PC Users Ain't Got No Logic

Close them Windows.
Apple's purchase of eMagic kicked off with the announcement that the company would
cease offering Logic audio products for the Windows platform.
As a Wired story notes, some Windows users are "furious", as they paid as much as $949
for the privilege. Apple did the same thing at Shake, another purchase, where Windows
development is also ceasing.
The article sees the strategy as tied in with Apple's 'Switch' campaign, as the
company has offered incentives potentially worth around $1,300 to PC users of Logic
audio products.
Is it working? Wired says no, according to the music software vendors they have spoken
with. Reluctance to change over all their hardware was one reason cited by PC users
for their reluctance to switch.
Apple's move has pushed eMagiic competitors, such as Cubase, into offering competitive
crossgrades, worth up to $500, Wired says. The problem is that these apps cannot open
Logic files.
Analysis: These guys have a 2,000-word petition, which, frankly, is pathetic given the
size of the Windows user base, even in the rarefied atmosphere of pro-am music
production. Windows developers have been killing Mac versions of products for years.
Revenge is sweet. And why the hell would you make music on anything but a Mac?
Moreover, this is not 'new' behavior from Apple: they have no intention of making
iTunes, iDVD or iMovie available for the Windows platform. Next move? Buy Quark, kill
Windows version (if that's even necessary).
