iPod Causes a Lot of Noise in France

iPod too sexy for the French? No. Too noisy.
Apple has pulled its iPod from the shelves as it exceeds government noise regulations.
The iPod's output exceeds 100 decibels, according to a report on ZDNet.
"Apple has recently been made aware of an issue with its iPod product line's
compliance with French law as it applies to sound output," according to an Apple
release quoted in the story. "This issue is correctable with a simple software update
to any existing iPod, and we are taking a number of proactive steps to make that
happen."
Apple will stock modified units and exchange them for existing iPods with French
resellers. Apple expect revamped units for the French market to be available from
October 8.
Analysis: If Steve brought his iPod to the Paris Expo, did he realize it was an
illegal import?
