PGP Corp has announced the release of PGP Enterprise 8.0, PGP Desktop 8.0 and PGP
Personal 8.0 for the Mac. These new products offer significant advancements to current
PGP offerings, including substantial new features.

"When we announced the formation of PGP Corporation just 16 weeks ago, we focused on
three things: technology continuity, building customer relationships, and innovation,
said Phil Dunkelberger, president and CEO. "In our announcement [Tuesday], we are
delivering PGP 8.0, a significant technology update and expansion of our product line
for both businesses and individuals. We remain committed to building what our
customers need to protect their confidential information."

PGP Desktop 8.0 for Macintosh includes full support for X (X.2 and later); new
enhanced user interface; plug-in for Apple's Mail that supports PGP/MIME (RFC 3156);

between X and Windows; encrypt using Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) in PGP Disk

enterprise data encryption; automatic key setup/generation, certificate request,

mass deployment; automatic LDAP policy and keyring synchronization; extensive policy
integration between PGP Keyserver and PGP Desktop.

PGP Personal 8.0 includes PGP Disk and PGP Mail for individual users that do not
require such enterprise features as integration with Exchange, Notes or GroupWise
servers, access to higher levels of Support, or Upgrade Insurance.

PGP Freeware 8.0 includes PGP Mail only, without plug-ins for use with email or
instant messenger clients, for personal non-commercial use only.

PGP 8.0 is available and is shipping immediately.Subscription pricing for PGP
Enterprise (PGP Disk, PGP Mail, PGP Admin, PGP Keyserver) begins at $125 per seat.
Subscription pricing for PGP Desktop (PGP Disk and PGP Mail) begins at $80 per seat. A
promotional price of $39 is available for PGP Personal (PGP Disk and PGP Mail) through
the holiday season.

Editor's note: As I am no one, I've never felt a need to encode my e-mail.
Fundamentally, it's as open to prying eyes as my snail mail is and no one cares.

Do you encrypt? What's the impetus for your need to avert curious eyes?
