PowerLogix Revs B&W, AIO, Beige G3s, to 800MHz G4

Your old Mac isn't dead yet. Fast G4s, low price makes for an attractive upgrade for
Beige, B&W Power Macs.
PowerLogix has quietly slipped a G4/800 upgrade announcement onto its site, as noted
by MacBidouille.
The CPU upgrade specialist originally announced an 800MHz PowerP750fx ZIF upgrade for
Blue & White and Yikes! Power Macs. Now the company plans to ship 800MHz G4 ZIF
upgrades in March.
Priced at $299, the upgrade is one of the lower-end PPC74xx 512K L2 cache CPUs,
although performance is likely to be equal to, or better than, an 800MHz iMac.
The G4/800 ZIF will work with all Power Mac G3 Beige mini-towers, the Blue & White
Power Mac G3, and the education-only G3 All-in-One.
Analysis: That's a lot of punch for $299, given what even a G4 eMac costs. It would
also be a very inexpensive way for schools and graphics businesses to upgrade older
equipment to AltiVec. Given that there are more OS X-supported PCI graphics cards in
older Mac desktops, older G3s can still be powerful OS X machines.
