Apple adds "Save and Print" promotion

The mothership and HP team to offer you a mail-in rebate
Apple's Macintosh Products Guide has been updated with a new promotion (imaginatively
entitled "Save and Print") that designed to buyers to purchase a new Mac and an HP
printer at the same time.
The promotion offers buyers a $99 rebate when they purchase a Mac and an HP DeskJet
3820 or 5550 printer between Feb 1 and Mar 29. The offer is available at the online
and brink-n-mortar Apple Stores, as well as participating retailers.
As is Apple's practice, all of the unsightly details are available from a downloadable
coupon.
Editor's note: Complaints about Apple-sponsored rebates have died down in recent
months and that can't be bad. However, as a matter of principle, I think mail-in
rebates are fundamentally dishonest and should be banned outright.
