Apple Releases DP 1.33GHz XServe

Power up, prices down on revamped XServes.
Together with the XServe RAID introduction this morning, Apple has powered up its 1U
XServe, with DP 1.33GHz processors, FireWire 800, and support for up to 720GB of
storage.
The revamped XServe also features support for 2GB of 333MHz DDR memory, with prices
now starting at $2,799.
"Just six months after we shipped the first Xserve, we're now offering more power and
more storage at an even lower price," said Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice
president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "Xserve is already in use at over 100
Fortune 500 companies and hundreds of universities and schools across the country, and
we're making it even better based on their feedback."
Two models are available:
- Single 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 processor, 256MB DDR 333 RAM, 60GB ATA/133 Apple Drive
Module, dual Gigabit Ethernet, CD-ROM - $2,799.
- Dual 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 processors, 512MB DDR 333 RAM, 60GB ATA/133 Apple Drive
Module, dual Gigabit Ethernet, CD-ROM - $3,799.
Both come with unlimited Client editions of OS X Server.
The new XServe is available in March. BTO options include memory, storage, optical
drives, graphics cards and SCSI and Fibre Channel cards.
