How well does your browser handle Javascript?

According to an Apple Developer Connection report, Mozilla 1.2.1 is tops

The Apple Developer Connection (ADC) has posted a report detailing the relative
performance characteristics running Java script.

"Apple's beta release of Safari has added a sixth entry to the list of major browsers
available to Mac users. It has also rekindled long-running discussions around the
question 'Which Mac browser is the best?'" queries the ADC page. "The question, of
course, is not easily resolved, because to arrive at an answer requires considerations
of as many 'feel-good' factors like user interface and aesthetics as it does of more
quantifiable things like standards compliance and speed."

According to the report, Mozilla 1.2.1 comes out on top and Safari is called a "a
strong contender." Explorer, the one-time market leader, gets dinged for a lack of XML
import support, as does Safari, as well as poor performance overall.

Editor's note: With Explorer development essentially on hold until M$ MSN is released
later this year, it's essentially an also ran likely for months to come. iCab, which
hasn't been published on anything resembling a schedule for over year, also appears to
be non-performer. Opera 7 for the Mac may appear, but we shouldn't hold our breath
waiting for it given that company's shaky commitment to development.

That said Mozilla, Safari and OmniWeb are perhaps the best choices for the platform
going forward. Personally, I think Apple will release a 90, 95-percent standards
compliant version of Safari before Summer and that it will equal or best Mozilla in
that time frame.

What's your take?
