Gambling in the UK: Not for Mac Users

Mac doesn't make the grade at lottery site - but Windows 95 does.
If you're hoping for unearned gains from the British National Lottery, you'd better be
using some version of Windows, according to a story at MacWorld UK.
That's the message Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery's internet site, has
for Mac users who wish their iMac had a lever on the side when they're playing on-line
slot machines.
The site brings up an "Incompatible Operating System" message. Fortunately, if you're
impoverished enough to still be running Windows 95 (on a 486 with 8MB RAM,
presumably), you'll gain access.
We assume Linux gambling addicts face the same problem, as will flat-broke Windows
3.1(!) users.
Analysis: Buying a Mac might be better than joining Gamblers Anonymous. I've got to
confess I tried Camelot's site - for research purposes only, you understand. And I got
the message.
MacWorld UK asks that its readers contact them if they find the problem has been
fixed. With all due respect, we wonder if that's the target demographic they're really
after...
