OWC cuts prices, boost capacity

With a 250GB model on offer and prices reduced by as much as $50
Other World Computing (OWC) has introduced a 250GB model in its popular line of
Mercury Elite Pro external FireWire storage solutions. The new 250GB hard drive ships
with an 8MB high-performance cache and "delivers some of the industry's largest and
fastest file and data storage capabilities," according to the company.
"Engineering advances in hardware design continue to create more possibilities for
external drives," said Larry O'Connor, president. "This new Mercury Elite Pro model
will add that much more storage capacity to an already impressive line of drives. And,
it's amazing how fast people find uses for the extra space because whether they are at
home or in the office, people are expanding the usage of their computers."
Mercury Elite Pro hard drives measure 1.5 x 9.0 x 5.5 inches and weigh less than three
pounds. The drives offer convenient plug-and-play capability, which allows for
increased mobility between different machines and locations, as well as increased ease
of file and data transfer. The new 250GB model operates at 7200RPM and is available
immediately for $479.99.

Additionally, OWC has announced new lower pricing for several models in the Mercury
Elite Pro product line including the following examples:
... 200GB, 7200RPM, 8MB cache for $379.99 (was $499.99);
... 180GB, 7200RPM, 8MB cache for $339.99 (was $449.99);
... 120GB, 7200RPM, 8MB cache for $259.99 (was $295.99);
... 120GB, 7200RPM, 2MB cache for $239.99 (was $259.99); and
... 80GB, 7200RPM, 2MB cache for $189.99 (was $199.99).
All Mercury Elite Pro drives ship with Intech HD SpeedTools, a FireWire cable,
external power adaptor and a two-year OWC warranty that covers all parts and labor.
