Alsoft Releases OS X-Native DiskWarrior 3.0
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
March 20th 2003

Support for file journaling, all G3s, G4s.

Alsoft has released its long-awaited OS X native version of DiskWarrior, its
much-lauded directory repair and maintenance software.

Alsoft says that the OS X version has "not [been] a simple port to Mac OS X; extensive
changes have been made to the application."

The company cites DiskWarrior 3.0's "dramatic" speed improvements as a major feature
boost, with additional support including file journaling, Mac OS X RAIDs, offers full
Unicode support, conformity with Apple's security standard, use of OS X's native
memory model, and directory rebuilding on disks as large as 2 terabytes (2,000
gigabytes).

Version 3.0 does not include DiskShield, due to OS X's file journaling and memory
protection. However, DiskWarrior includes drive monitoring, which can warn of
impending disk hardware failure.

DiskWarrior 3.0 is available as an OS X-bootable CD. It supports all G3 and G4
processors and requires 128MB RAM. It can repair both HFS and HFS+ disks. To install
DiskWarrior on a hard drive, OS X 10.2.1 or later is required, although any G3 or G4
regardless of OS can be booted from the CD.

Upgrades are priced at $39.95 ($7.95 S&H). Free upgrades are available to purchases
made after January 31, 2003. Variosu special upgrade pricing applies to purchasers of
version 2.1. Pre-orders are available on version 3.0, which will be available on CD
only; no downloadable version will be available.
