Apple Releases Airport 3.0
By Remy Davison, Insanely Great Mac
March 25th 2003

More functionality for Airport, Jaguar support for Airport Extreme.

Apple released Airport 3.0 on Monday, its 802.11b software, which includes support in
OS X 10.2 for both Airport and Airport Extreme.

Apple's KBase document notes that Airport Extreme works with all Airport products.
Airport Extreme offers upgraded support and functionality in areas such as "printing,
administration, and options for extending the range of your wireless network."

Airport 3.0 requires OS X 10.2 or later, while printing support requires 10.2.3.
Internal Airport cards only are supported. The Kbase doc notes that third-party cards
can be used, but Airport software will not work with them, except the Airport Admin
Utility. KBase also has some notes on upgrading an Airport Base Station to Airport 3.0
