For years, I've ripped DVDs I've bought onto a drive that hangs off my MacPro. I often play these files over the network. As of 10.6.6, I'm getting an initialization problem. But it could be because I removed my optical drive from my MBPro and replaced it with an SSD and while the file is remote and residing on a disk, DVD Player crashes upon initialization due to lack of hardware. Should I resort to VLC ? or ? Well, I guess VLC doesn't like my MBPro with an SSD in the optical drive slot.
