If you're running Mac OS X 10.1, you should be able to use the Script Menu to do this. Unfortunately, I'm not yet running 10.1, so I can't tell you exactly how. Or there's Mike Ferris' TextExtras (http://www.lorax.com, I think) which has a feature called "User Pipes" which does something similar. - -- Craig S.
