I've got a perfectly functioning MySQL server that I'm using with Perl. I'm now at a stage where I need to switch my login string from 127.0.0.1 to my IP address for remote access. For some reason my installation of MySQL is bouncing the socket request. I have 3306 opened via the firewall control pane software and my router has my primary IP in the DMZ. Is there some configuration file that restricts 3306 access by default?

Thanks for your help!
