Confused . . .

I've got perl5.8.6 installed.  When I do perl -v, I see that perl 5.8.6 
is running.  Yet when I do "man perl", at the end of the file I'm seeing 
this:

perl v5.8.1                       2003-07-09 
PERL(1)

So there's got to be something wrong with the links.  How do I fix this?
