Son of a bitch!  No wonder AppleScript didn't like that and I started
fishing around for something else.  I had it right the first time,
but I missed that bit.  Why anything should be read only is beyond
me.

So, I wonder if I have to extract the path name of the photo, then
go into the filesystem or iPhoto databases to change that, although
I really don't want to do that.

Curiously, Batch Change let's you change the date, but I don't know
if I want to do more painful UI scripting to get the task done. I can
also change the date and time in the photo info pane.  That's probably
why I completely missed the r/o bits.

iPhoto sucks.
