Nobody's yet mentioned the Image::Size module?If installing a module is hard, then it doesn't seem sensible to advise using a different module!
There is an *enormous* difference between installing ImageMagick (which isn't a module, although you get a perl module with it) and installing Image::Size. I just installed Image::Size with cpan -- blink and you missed it.
