It’s because there are a few packages, like wine and some of the emulators I
like to use (and some I maintain), that have not transitioned to 64 bit
sufficiently yet.
Up to now, there was no serious push for them to do so.
In a year, all of them will probably have sorted this out. Right now, though,
your SOL on Mojave until they do.
So we’re trying to find a way to buy them some time — and now for me at least,
I have that solved for the foreseeable future.
