Just a heads up that I'm planning to create a new release branch and tag a
2.11.0 beta soon. Is there anything that we'd really like to get into master
ahead of that?

Can I just say that I'd like to be given lots of notice
before the 2.11 version comes out. My understanding is
that it will be the first version that no longer
supports macos 10.4. Perhaps this is that notice. So
I'd like to be able to get my 10.4 laptop up to date
before 2.11. I'll do an update on my 20ish year old
laptop right now :-).

There will be at least one beta and one release candidate, which will be announced as usual. When the final version is released, selfupdate on 10.4 will fail. 'port sync' will still work, and new features are not supposed to be used in the ports tree for two weeks after a major release, so you will have that long before you need to stop syncing to avoid breaking things.

We also always create a tag in the ports repo at the time of a new base release.
