hi Randal,
they work in my intel core 2 duo macbook, os x 10.4.10.

Wow - that is quick, Randall! What a nice welcome to macports.
As I mentioned on IRC, I downgraded liboil to 0.3.10_2 on my intel
mac to get a working liboil adequate for gnome. However I will try
your newly patched port later.
