I can give the updated octave a try; if it works, I can commit the
port.
I'm not sure why the Port maintainer has not changed to gcc-4.2 for
the PPC port; perhaps he doesn't have access to hardware?
I'll run builds on my x86_64 and PPC Leopard machines and see if
anything bad happens.
