This may not be the first error. Could you please clean openssl and
try again with the debug switch?
sudo port clean openssl
sudo port -d install openssl 2>&1 | tee ~/Desktop/openssl.txt
bzip2 ~/Desktop/openssl.txt
Then attach openssl.txt.bz2 from your desktop to your reply email.
