Maybe something that I didn't get with this point:
Browse myports.txt and install the ports that you actually want to
use (as opposed to those that are only needed as dependencies) one
by one, remembering to specify the appropriate variants:
sudo port install portname +variant1 +variant2 ...
But I think I did well.
Ok. So what's your status now? Were you able to get past the
bigreqsproto checksum problem?

well, unfortunately I didn't find the solution to the checksum
problem. (I went once more through the "standard" procedure but I'm
probably missing something. Don't know). Anyway, I downloaded the
binary of ImageMagick... and at least now I can play with it.
