Everything should be the same in regards to variants...versions I can't be certain of, since I don't know the release schedule for individual ports. I decided to start fresh, but took some time to research all of the possible variants, picked which one's I needed based on what they added to the ports I use/need...and added them to etc/variants.conf
I'm gonna give +universal another go, instead of letting the port's default arch getting built. So far so good.
