Currently, support for MacPorts in the TeX Distribution Preference Pane is outdated, and links to the now obsolete MacPorts tetex ports. It is currently not fully compatible with MacPorts texlive ports. Still, that support wouldn't necessarily open the door for tlmgr support as Ryan and Dan have pointed out. Is there a way for tlmgr to install/update packages in a users ~/Library/texmf?
