Thanks! Personally I have never moved /usr/local in regards to any operation I have ever carried out with Mac Ports & I've suffered no ill effects. Also I still do, on occasion, install certain things into /usr/local for various reasons & that again has never interfered with anything in /opt/local. I am very careful however that I take into account what goes where & what possible conflicts may arise with this arrangement & have daily dealings with similar set-ups with apt & yum on different OS's.
