I'm not sure what you're asking.  "port provides" doesn't need sudo, it is
querying the database.  I just used it to show where qmake came from on my
system (the "=qmake" is a Z shell-ism, doesn't work in bash or at least not
the one Apple ships).

The point is "sudo port install qt4-mac" is needed to get qmake.
