The current pango still builds fine for me so I don't think it's a general 
problem.

However, another pango build failure was reported today:

Yes I want to do that, but I've been putting it off:

Pango now requires Harfbuzz, which so far doesn't compile with gcc-4.0, which 
will be problematic for our users still on Tiger.
