Ah, yes.

Indeed, after doing `launchctl load -w 
/Library/LaunchAgents/org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist` the dbus daemon is 
launched, but it may not be available immediately after launch.

In the end I do the same, except I type the akonadictl command from a terminal 
so that I can keep an eye on akonadi's output.

Do you have a reason not to use kdelibs4 with the +osxkeychain variant which 
makes KWallet use a "native" backend, and you no longer need kwalletd? This 
also ensures that password dialogs always open in front and not behind all 
other windows, and removes timeout glitches in kmail, like when you send an 
email and you don't enter your kwallet password fast enough.
