I agree that's what's happening here. $ ~/macports/users/ryandesign/scripts/vercmp 1.9.4~dev-613-ga36a93f 1.9.4~dev.beta1-13-g632349b MacPorts considers 1.9.4~dev-613-ga36a93f to be greater than 1.9.4~dev.beta1-13-g632349b.
