my SnowLeopard macports-base built and installed just fine. As Chris says, post up your config log and we might see the error.
Or — simpler perhaps -- just try to build any “hello_world.c” program at all with your llvm-gcc-4.2 compiler and you might find out how it is broken. I seem to remember something about a bunch of symlinks you made from cctools things into macports cctools in the past (perhaps I recall wrong). K
