Hi: I’ve been running Gramps from MacPorts under X11 for probably 10 years although it was about a year ago that I last worked with it intensively. Since then, I updated the macOS (was several versions behind) and uninstalled everything under MacPorts since there was a lot of accumulated cruft. However, I’m having a problem with Gramps since then.
When I create a report in pdf format, it would previously open in Preview.app. Now, I get an error dialog saying: Error from external program - Gramps g-io-error-quark: No application is registered as handling this file (15) The only option is “Close”. I get the same error message if I double-click on a photo in the Gramps records. If I start Gramps from the command line, there is no error logged. I have hunted for some kind of configuration option with no success. I’m not sure if there has been a change in the way Gramps is configured or the way X11 is installed. $ port installed xorg-server gramps; sw_vers The following ports are currently installed: gramps @6.0.1_0+python313+x11 gramps @6.0.5_0+python313+x11 (active) xorg-server @1.20.11_1 (active) ProductName: macOS ProductVersion: 15.7.2 BuildVersion: 24G325 I’m still on an Intel Mac if that makes any difference.
