Similar: My MBP is a C2D (makes things a lot trickier) and I run Kororaa
(basically a frilled up Gentoo) with a fair bit of kernel fiddling. It's
not perfect, but most of the important stuff works. Battery status in
ACPI and properly working iSight are in the queue to be sorted out.
Suspend2 mostly works - stressing fglrx heavily will occasionally cause
malloc failures during the suspend phase.
