Hi Donna, I use a USB mike, but all I do to turn it on is select it as my input. I would think the same would be true of a built-in mike.
Weird that the Skype test call service is reported as offline. I've never seen that, even when I tried using it with no mike plugged in by mistake. I added it as a contact years ago, so don't know the best way to add it now.
