Hi, For the first question i can't be sure, but there are commands to get into processes.
As for the limitations of applescript, since there is a large library of commands, and this being object oriented, you can display or list various objects within objects, their elements and properties. So if you choose and reflect on what you want the script to do, it shouldn't be a problem to do just about anything. You might want though to check for third party libraries for various applications not made by Apple.
