Hi,

I’ve not tried it using that kind of set up.  I’ve got a similar setup at home 
though but have my Extreme using its Dual Bandwidth option instead of two 
separate 2.4 and 5 GHz networks.  It’s entirely possible that having them 
broadcast in that manner could cause the problem.  If your Airport Extreme is 
at least a 4th Generation one, it should handle the automatic Dual Bandwidth 
transmission.  When in this mode, your Extreme will broadcast both a 5 GHz and 
2.4 GHz signal simultaneously and maintain them as a single network, thus, 
ensuring there’s no communications blocked between your iPhone and your Mac.  
When the Extreme is in the Dual Bandwidth mode, both your iPhone and Mac will 
connect to the side of the network that they need seamlessly.  Hope this makes 
sense.
