This appears to be an Amazon problem. Amazon puts up the message in the
HTML like this:
<div tabindex="0" class="airy-video-unsupported-prompt">Sorry, this
video is unsupported on this browser.</div>
If I use Safari and use some developer tools to make it lie and say it
is some other browser, the video plays just fine. So Safari is perfectly
capable of playing the video and it it is Amazon which is blocking
Safari through their code, accidentally or otherwise.
If you want to pretend to be another browser to make this work you need
to enable the Developer menu in Preferences then Advanced. At the very
end is a checkbox that says "Show Develop menu in menu bar". With that
turned on you can go to that menu in the toolbar in Safari, choose User
Agent and then pick one of the non-Safari browser. You'll still be
running Safari but you'll be telling Amazon you're on Firefox or
whatever. Then Amazon will no longer hate your browser and let the video
play. Forums are full of complaints about this going back to at least
July so it doesn't sound like Amazon cares. This happens on iOS as well.

Apologies, I should have thought of that. It’s the very first review
that comes up if the reviews are sorted by most helpful.

Can you share a link to one of the Amazon video reviews that is not
working?

Hi, often when going through reviews on Amazon.com
<http://amazon.com/> there is a video review and I often get this
message and cannot access the video.
"Sorry, this video is unsupported on this browser.“
I have the latest flash plug in for Safari installed. Is there some
other plug in that I may be missing?
Thanks,
Christina
