OK, so I am looking, as recommended, at the Scrivener app for my writing/publishing. Wow! That's the only word I can say... just! wow! I went through the tutorial, also as recommended. Part of it does go a little bit over my head, and I'm not sure that I'll use every single feature the app offers, but I definitely think it will suffice for the things I need to do.
