So if your iphone/ipad is synched/backed up to your Mac via iTunes then
all the files are local on the Mac, not in icloud. If you could set
iTunes to store these backups in a network drive from your NAS, would
that not get you where you want to be?

Qsync, a plugin for the qnap nas should also handle the job but the sync
program for the mac seems not to work correctly.
If there are any other plugins, experiences or possibilities I can look for, it
would be great to hear of you.
