Hi, Just to clear things up here:
• both the Express and Extreme can act as routers. The Extreme just has a more powerful processor and more ports, but the Express has the same router features. • yes, the Extreme supports Airplay, but does not have the audio output combo jack that the Express has. Thus, when planning to connect to a digital or analog audio AirPlay connection for streaming audio, or AirTunes as it was coined in the past, you'll need the Express. The Extreme will support the AirPlay mirroring through to an Apple TV wirelessly, but has no audio output jack. Later...
