Make sure you are not running the app

Now from the desktop / finder do a command shift a to go to the applications 
view

Now interact with the table of apps

Now arrow to the app you wish to remove

Do a control option shift m to open the contectuall menu

Arrow down to send to drash and hit control option  spacebar and it is in the 
trash

 

Now command w to close  the apps window

Now go to the finder menu at the top of the screen and arrow down to empty 
trash and follow the prompts after doing a control option spacebar to open the 
empty trash window.
