Thanks for this pointer, Chris. It really is helpful! e.g. I'm one of those people the article talks about who were disappointed the locate command wasn't available. Well, nice to know it's called mdfind. Next task, I suppose, might be to symlink to the familiar name! <grin>
Too bad that VoiceOver is so lame in the terminal. I have found it most useful to ssh into my Mac from within a running Linux VM in order to get the superior terminal performance available with Speakup. Pretty cludgy, I know. But, it does the trick. At home, I simply keep an ssh session from my Linux desktop logged into the Mac for the same reason.
