Hello My Fellow A T & T Wireless Unlimited Data Plan Subscribers, I am delighted to report that, after paying a visit to my local A T & T Wireless corporate store and after having concluded a 20 minute phone call with A T & T Wireless technical billing support, I am comfortable stating that there is absolutely no risk of voiding the unlimited data plan by enabling WiFi calling.
When it's all said and done, the senior tech explained that, unlike the hotspot service, WiFi calling does not require any line/account provisioning, whatsoever. In fact, after having spoken to the people at A T & T, I now realize that WiFi calling has absolutely nothing to do with the transmission of data. Wifi calling only refers to voice calls and SMS messages. Be that as it may, and I was clear to state this to all of those with whom I spoke, albeit graciously, that I don't trust A T & T Wireless or any big company that continues to be fined by the FCC for unfair practices designed to limit the company's commitment to its customers who purchased service in good faith. By the way, I learned that A T & T only throttles data to its unlimited data plan customers when they reach 23GB in a billing cycle and then only at peak/congested times of the day, on a per cell tower basis. That is to say, that if a customer has reached the 23GB threshold and is having his/her data throttled on cell tower A, because of high traffic congestion, if the customer happens to move to cell tower B, and B is not congested, data wil not be throttled. The following is the text of an email I had A T & T Wireless email to me, regarding WiFi calling: Do charges apply for Wi-Fi Calling? If you use Wi-Fi Calling to make or receive domestic calls from the U.S., Puerto Rico, or U.S. Virgin Islands, there are no extra charges. Also, these calls don't count against your voice plan usage limits. For international long distance calls, international rates from your current rate plan or international package apply. If you use Wi-Fi Calling to send or receive domestic or international messages, you'll be charged based on your current rate plan or international package. These messages will also count against any usage limits. Happy WiFi Calling To Us All, Mark -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
