Hi all.
Last week, I reinstalled El Capitan in the hopes that it would allow my
friend's HDMI TV to work with the Mac. It didn't, but it also made my iPhone
not work with the Mac either. It would charge, show up briefly in iTunes, then
just disappear. I reset the PRAM and SMC like a good loyal Apple customer, but
Apple has not been very loyal to me. Nothing worked. I decided to let it slide,
and just use the iPhone without iTunes and such. Last night, I got home and
tried it with the TV that the Mac has always worked with. Nope. It didn't work
with that TV either. I tried reinstalling, but "This item is temporarily
unavailable. Please try again later." I then tried again this morning, with the
same results. I tried a clean install, too. I called Apple support, reset the
router as instructed, nothing. So they said I could walk into the nearest Apple
store and they might be able to reinstall the OS for me, although I'm not even
sure it would help with the HDMI and iPhone issue. If it doesn't, then fine.
The Mac will lose its "It just works" compliments from me. Because right now,
it barely works at all.
