I've used both, and my sister now has the 38mm I tried first. It seems that the 
38mm is a better size for many women, while the 42mm offers more screen and 
9some say) better battery life but is too large. The 42mm looks fine on many 
men, I'm told. I don't know about sport versus stainless steel, but I got the 
sport last week and am fine with it. I'm sure it doesn't look as nice as the 
next level up, but it wasn't worth $200 more just to look a little fancier.
