That adapter simply does not work! Please do not advise individuals that it
does, because it is not correct. When I attached it to my Mac Mini, the
machine refused to even boot! We need to quash this adapter thing now! I
wasted money on the adapter based upon the recommendations of well-meaning
individuals, but enough already. It doesn't work.

Correct. You want the whatever your computer has to video adapter.

There are different flavors depending on what the port is on the back of your
computer. The one noted above is the mini-dvi to video but some computers might
have the micro-DVI which is

correct I'd sure appreciate it someone can finally clarify exactly which one it
is that does work!

I haven't seen it stated clearly in this thread. Was the adaptor
purchased the Mac to NTSC adaptor? That's the only one that works. The NTSC
adaptor tells the Mac that there is a monitor attached even if there isn't one.
The DVI adaptor is not the right one. That one still passes through the monitor
detect signaling so it just moves the problem further down the chain of
connections. For those not familiar, without a monitor connected the Mac tries
to detect what's hooked up. This detection apparently hangs the machine, makes
it run horribly slow or other bad behaviors if there isn't a monitor hooked up.
If you hook up an NTSC adaptor the detect runs as though a screen is hooked up
and then everything works.

Hi,

I agree, if I would've known the frustration my Mac mini would cause me
I would've bought an iMac. Sometimes it doesn't pay to try and save a

Well I had exactly the same problem last week.
My only recommendation is to buy a cheap monitor just for the mini which is
what I did.
Of course you can also do what I did and buy yourself an early Christmas
present (an imac).

    Hello:
I have finally gotten around to purchasing the mini to dvi adapter that
many
folks told me would solve the problems I am having with my Mac Mini's poor
performance on the web, and its inability to play DVDS. I have been very
busy because of a change in my job description, so I've kind of put the
Mac
on hold. However, life is calming down and I decided to get down to it
with
the mac. Imagine my frustration when, I received the adapter today,
connected it to the back of my Mac, started the machine, and I have no
speech. If I start the machine without this adapter connected, VO comes
up
as expected, and if I subsequently plug in the adapter all is still well,
but Safari is still just as slow as it was before. I'm wondering why the
system doesn't seem to come up if the adapter is plugged in. If any of
you
have an idea what could be causing this and, better yet, if any of you
have
a solution, I will be incredibly grateful.

Subject: A question about streaming audio in vlc media player

Hi all,

Whenever I stream audio in Vlc through an m3u playlist, the player skips
ahead to the next track in the playlist before the current one finishes
playing. What's going on here, and how can I fix this?
Thanks.

Jes.
