Yeah I find the air great, I wish they could up spec them more but then my specs would probably melt the keyboard.
I currently have a 2013 11 inch air with I7 1.7GHZ processor, 8GB ram, 512GB ssd It’s a great machine. I wouldn’t go less than this. Just my opinion, of course. What you need is entirely dependent on your tolerances, needs and desires. Oh, and BTW, you can downgrade to Yosemite on either, because that’s what both shipped with.
