Like I said, not quite Nicola Tesla but almost.  Kawal, you picked up on the 
right thing.  Yes, there’s still a cable that attaches from a power outlet to 
the matt.  The power is drawn in to the matt and then sent through the air to 
the device sitting on it or near it.  Some coffee shops have larger systems 
where if your phone sits on the counter or in a charging area the power is sent 
through the air to the device.  You’re exactly right though, power has to be 
attached to the transmission point.
