Hi Donna, I have my apple Bluetooth keyboard paired with the apple tv 4 gen,
But just a secret between us, I find the old remote for my apple tv 2gen quicker to use than the new remote and easier to find than my keyboard. Try using the old remote and see what happens. We actually checked the model number, and it was in fact a second GEN. I was quite surprised. Sorry for sending everyone on a wild goose chase. :-) We are now the proud owners of a fourth GEN Apple TV! :-) One question, what's the deal with the keyboard? Can a pair with the Mac or does it need to be paired with a dedicated Bluetooth keyboard? Yes, it looks like your AppleTV is a second generation model. Even then, that's not how you activate audio descriptions and Netflix. It's done within the Netflix app itself. Press the center button on the remote, and hold it. Whatever you're watching will stop, and voiceover should let you navigate the screen. There's an audio tab, and in that tab there should be a choice for audio description. If you don't see it, you definitely have a second-generation Apple TV. All I see is Voiceover, Use Pitch, Speech rate, Accessibility menu--which only seems to include VO and captioning. I would have sworn it was 3rd gen, but now I'm starting to wonder if our Apple TV is a second Gen after all. Where do you find the accessibility options in the phone app? Both my Apple TV and my phone have the latest updates. Go to Settings > General > Accessibility, and find/enable "use audio descriptions when available". From there on out, iTunes/Videos will play descriptions for any content you have that includes them. So here are my questions: Is there any way to access audio descriptions with a 3rd-gen Apple TV? If so, how does one do it? If I can't do it using the Apple TV, I assume I can do it on my iPhone. Can someone refresh my memory on how to do that? TIA, Donna -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
