First, my minor apology is regarding the fact that I can't recall who it was that recommended the Day One app to me.
Yes, the app is about 5 bucks, so it's not freeware, but, wow! This is a really nice little app! I think it will do perfectly. The only thing it doesn't have, which I kind of wish that it did was the ability to not only attach a photo to an entry, but would also let you attach an audio recording. Aside from that though, and believe me, that's pretty minor, I think this app definitely will suffice, so thank you for the recommendation.
